Sundays are for Acoustics in the Park

#lovinglife and moustaches

I had the good fortune of attending the first ever Park Acoustics gig of 2013 on Sunday and what an amazing event! Even though we got off to a bit of a late start, and one should try and be seated by 11h00 to get a good shady seat in front of the stage, we still had a fabulous time under the tree on the upper amphitheater surrounded by good old bush, bugs and thorns.

I don't know how many of you have been to the Voortrekker Monument. Me and @markstry went exploring the memorial for a location for a music video we wanted to shoot and did a bit of a test shoot. I don't get embarrassed, so naturally for the test shoot we used me walking up and down various places at the monument with a giant blue box on my head. Sigh. The things I do for the love of the art. However, the point I'm trying to make is that the Voortrekker Monument is something incredible, the view from the top is breathtaking. Especially so when you think back to a time where there was no Pretoria, was no Johannesburg and was just this endless rolling African landscape. Amazing. Amazing amazing amazing.

And this is where they have this fantastic event @parkacoustics, this beautiful historical place where so many people from different walks of life come to enjoy a day in the sunshine with fabulous music. We had @Shortstrawband and @TidalWavesTunes ease us into a very pleasant Sunday afternoon. It really felt like a day trip, we took the Gautrain to Centurion and had a friend collect us to take us through to the concert. Centurion's station looks so much like an airport that the experience was like we had flown to another city - the one that came to mind was Durban.

It was menacingly hot, and personally I find that hot weather makes it even more difficult to decide what to wear. For instance, for the fear of over-heating I can't wear all my pretty sheer tops. No-one wants to see sweaty half-nakedness unless they're the ones doing something about it. So I decided on a strapless white cotton top with my cute pink shorts and some thong sandals.

Now, ordinarily I would find this outfit dreadfully boring. I'm trying to wear a lot more white these days in preparation for Kanye West's "All White" party. Although I love how it makes the tan pop, the stress of messing - and particularily my lipstick - it becomes very hard to feel confident in the decision to wear it. But back to the outfit at hand, it dawned on me that now I could go mad with accessorising. I'm mad for colour and print and anything loud so these shorts and top became a canvas.

I have these amazing bracelets that a dear friend, Alessandra, made two years back. They are these exquisite material ones that can function in many different ways. You can take a look at their beautiful accessories here solaafrica.sa I used one as a headband to give my braid an even more boho look, the pink and green went so well with my hot pink lip and multi-stone earrings. Next I decided on a statement necklace, and this one my mom picked out for me from her friend's store in Hvar, Croatia. I don't get much opportunity to wear it because it is a very dramatic piece with lots of colour so I was only esctatic to be able to adorn it around my neck!

I wanted to continue the bohemian vibe so I wrapped another bracelet around my wrist and combined some of my most natural bead bracelets as well as that gold spiked one I wore to Lindo's wedding. That one can be a bit of a pain, literally, those spikes don't mess around when they poke they insist. I really love turquoise, it reminds me of my mother's eyes - not that they're turquoise but they're this wonderful mystical colour that pop when she wears most shades of blue. And of course, my little gold Casio, old faithful with the red leather envelope clutch.

Hope to see you at your Sunday best at the next @Parkacoustics :)

Life is short. Buy the shoes.

I've started this sentence at least 5 times I'm still not sure how to adequately introduce you to what is my favourite outfit (oh hell, they're all my favourite, I'm sure we've been able to gauge this)

I'm in love with Colour, I have been since I was a teeny person. But one winter I opened my cupboard and almost collapsed from the lack of Colour in the neat (may be slight exaggeration on neat) row of monochrome cardigans, coats and dresses. I was so scared that I didn't buy anything black for a very long time. I never thought I would be a person to accumulate so much grey in one time. Not that there's anything wrong with grey, it's a more favorable neutral when pairing Colour.

So being the self-proclaimed Queen of Colour (Presents in the Post, I coined it from the option I chose for my surprise gift) I have a particular fancy for emerald green. Style knows no fear, but I was cautious of green with this super blonde hair. How daft, emerald and gold are only a timeless classic!

Imagine my delight when I remembered that little fact, and I immediately begun hunting through my wardrobe to find suitable garments that coordinated with my beautiful emerald green satin top. Personally I think a high-waist skirt is definitely part of a "basics" collection, an old faithful that can swing from casual to classy in a matter of moments. There are so many benefits to high-waist skirts, the best being that it accentuates a tiny waist and makes your ass look great - tell me that that is not what you want from your basics? Mine is this fantastic metallic textured number from Forever21 that I first showed you with that magnificent sheer top

Whenever I have worn this outfit I have received gushing compliments for which I attest that one does not need blusher. For those cooler days, I add my amazing leather jacket and we're ready to rock. I like to accessorise with gold and lots of it, gold earrings, gold necklace, gold watch, gold gold gold. Because I love it, and because it's quintessential.

And then of course for the main event, my glorious shoes. They are a feat of wonder. I searched high and low in Joburg to find heel-less wedges and being extraordinarily unsuccessful. It's so typical, whenever I want something I search for ages until I find it and then 2 weeks laters it's on the shelves at Mr Price. #IrritationStationDeluxe. But I digress, I was unable to find anything in an affordable price range, there were 2x el cheopo (yucky) options at YDE that were so boring and expensive (R800!) and then there were the exquisite, soft, amazing ones at a Castelo Shoes in Sandton - but these pretty babies start at R1800. SMH.

And then it came to me. My superstar friend @Retini has a friend with the business of selling super duper shoes - Lullabelle Boutique. And sure enough, there are heel-less wedges galore, cutouts, metallica, spikes oh the spectacular! Less than 2 weeks later my dazzling shoes arrived! These shoes should come with a warning label and not just for "walk with caution." They are attention grabbers like ladies with fake chests. Be prepared to have people staring at your feet through entire conversations. Or little girls running after you to take photos of said shoes at Lady Gaga concerts (yes, I did that, I wore heel-less shoes to a concert). Oh, and don't lean back.

Floral Crop Tops and Mini Skirts

I'm still looking for the strapless white corset top that I desperately need to add to the "basics" collection as I have plenty of outfits for it to be paired with. I hate shopping with having something so specific in mind because it would seem that even I, the expert shopper, am destined to not find what I'm looking for. I prefer the casual shopping, where beautiful clothes magically find their way into my eagle-eye vision and soft gentle hands.

As was the case when I found this amazing floral crop top. I discovered that it's quite difficult to find a corset that fits well over the boobies. You don't want it to flatten your chest and nor do you want to be spilling out of it. And you definitely do not want it fitting in that awkward way that makes your boobs look like they're in the wrong place.

I love the zipper detail and the good quality denim cotton that makes the top so fabulous. It has these great adjustable straps so that you can make it fit in the right places. I adore the floral print on the cotton, the combination of the red and blue hits the mark for sexy and fun.

I paired the outfit with a red mini skirt pulled above the belly button so as to not reveal too much flesh. I have another similar outfit with a green Jo Borkett skirt :) This look has all the right elements of fun, sexy and summer!

sexy #bitches Angela, me and @Paulke @ Santa Maria, Machangulo Mozambique
Said similar outfit. Outside a small shop in Machangulo

I accessorised with gold being inspired by the gold zipper. I love my gold retro Casio so much, I could wear it everyday although I would like it to remain gold for longer so I shall try contain myself. These earrings I bought for Lindo's wedding, I love their shape and the colour of the somewhat brassy gold. I wore my favourite apple diamante ring and of course matching nail and lip reds. I opted for the blue trim sandals which contrast so well with the luminous orange nail paint.

I'd like to introduce you to my super cute, leather envelope clutch. I saw it in the shop window at Poetry in Hyde Park and I immediately walked right in and grabbed it out of the mannequin's hand. As I said, I like the casual shopping where all the beautiful things find their way into my direct eye-line and more often than not are the last one left and in my size. And then what's a girl to think other than it's fate?

Fast Favourites - Golden Globes 2013

Me and @markstry are film addicts. I say film and I want to encompass the bigger picture; films, music videos, series, commercials... And there comes award season and fashion steps into the mix with these beautiful, talented people parading in magnificent gowns. And yes, there are those where we question their stylist's choices but I'm not here to rant about the horribly dressed but rather to commend those that shine like diamonds in the sky.

Emily Blunt in Michael Kors
Let's begin with my top favourite, Emily Blunt is a goddess in Michael Kors. I love Emily Blunt, she's a great actress that I admire and she is so beautiful. The cut-out gold gown with the exquisite lace fit her seamlessly. I love the little bit of skin, it adds such a sexy flair to the dress, the way it shows off her back and her butt doesn't escape the gaze. The earrings are an exceptional choice in their colour and size, I am a huge fan of the up-do with attention seeker ear pieces. One hundred and fifty percent approved.

Anne Hathaway in Chanel
Anne Hathaway is breathtaking in this white strapless Chanel. This dress is elegant and profusely compliments her amazing figure. The floor length also helps with avoiding attention in the wrong areas. No faux pas at this party!

Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka
I love, love, love this Badgley Mischka dress on Helen Mirren. It accentuates her curves and reminds us all of the sexy, fearless and incredible woman she is.

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
I foresee that Kerry Washington's hairstyle will explode on the scenes soon, the not-too-perfect bangs are on trend. As for her fabulous Miu Miu dress, I'm not sure where to start. Perhaps the impecible embellishment? Or the super sexy sheer? Or the fantastic choice on the perfect shade of blush? She looks amazing, Kim Kardashian can eat it.

Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan
Nicole Richie looks absolutely terrific in this ice blue Naeem Khan number. I love the pattern and the long sleeves. I love the eye liner detail in her flawless make up, having hazel eyes myself it encourages me to be more daring with my eyeliner choices. I really love the fringe detail on her purse, I'm mad for fringe. I also appreciate the long sleeves and that she opted to keep the imagination to the figure-hugging quality of the gown.

Rachel Weisz in Louis Vuitton
Oh Rachel Weisz, can she ever do any wrong? Outstanding in this Louis Vuitton number, she is faultless in her choice for sheer with polka dots. I love the sheer over her collar bone and shoulders, subtly revealing the sexiest part of a woman. Her yummy arm candy Daniel Craig doesn't shape up too badly either...

Daniel Craig & Rachel Weisz
Marion Cotillard in Dior

I started with my personal favourite and it only seems fit to end with another of my dearest. I have tried hard to find fault with Marion Cotillard since the boyfriend expressed interest in her in more than her exceptional acting but jealousy aside, the woman is extraordinary. And to win my affections, here she is looking flawless as ever in a coral red Dior. You'll find out more and more that I have a bias for strapless (strap-tan-lines are a strict no-no in my book) and Marion shows off her delicate frame in this gorgeous gown. I love the midi-maxi detail. I love her printed clutch and her nail polish, it's not easy to compliment the colour of the dress without overkill. Her hair looks fantastic and her shoes are on point. One hundred and fifty percent approved, what a marvel.

Oooooh and we still have the Oscars to look forward to...

Rose Gold and Peplum, Leather, Onyx and Silver, these are a few of my favorite things...

I really loved Mila Kunis in the all black leather peplum dress for Dior, I find it wonderfully feminine and classy with just that hint of sexy through it's figure hugging form.

So with that inspiration in mind, this was one of those tops that I couldn't shake when I saw it. I dreamt about it, I stole sneaky glances, I imagined scenarios similar to that of Dior's where I could wear it. I have a simple rule, if you can't live without it, then it's meant to be yours. And so I marched with purpose to purchase, destiny was on my side with the second last one (!) being the perfect size and fit.

A close friend from college got married in September last year and with that the perfect opportunity to wear my Dior dream. She knows that I'm the kind of girl to wear that kinda outfit, and just because it's a wedding does not mean one can look frumpy and unstylish.

Before I found the amazing bodycon mini skirt that I chose to wear, I was considering a black velvet mini. I love the clashing the print titans and I was pondering a similar clashes of textures until I found that leather skirt. It's a similar principal to that of my beautiful leather jacket that has a stretchy-ish cloth material on the arms. I find that by having this it's a lot more forgiving on not only your shape and size but on the duration that you can wear leather without sticking to it like that stubborn food that won't get off your girdle pan.

I found the shoes before the skirt so with that the outfit was complete. I love Mary Jane heels, I have broad feet and these puppies make them look elongated. The platform helps in the area of height whilst making them easier to walk in and wear for longer. The fact that they are Rose Gold metallic, well now that's how meticulous this outfit is!

I don't own any rose gold jewelry. Yet. But I found that to accessories with rosé gold would be OTT so opted for silver and onyx. I have this incredible silver and onyx bracelet that I received for my birthday that was the ticket alongside the silver spike drop earrings.

This is not an outfit to only be worn once friends, I have since worn the peplum top to a Lady Gaga concert but opting for snakeskin print accents and heel-less wedges (more on those later) and there is never a reason to not look glam in the evening time. Like ever. Don't ever let your SO tell you that you look too glam, you ARE glam and that outfit should epitomise that.
